This Peugeot 806 Procar was van-sized racing madness

Who says you can't have fun with a French family van? In 1995, Kronos Racing converted the well-behaved Peugeot 806 Eurovan into an uncompromising Procar and entered it at the 24h of Spa Francorchamps. The rest is history.

25 years ago, the man in charge of the advertising budget for Peugeot had a wild idea: For the 1995 24 Hours of Spa Francorchamps, Peugeot decided to go really crazy, building a pro car from the family-sized 806 MPV. In the hands of Kronos Racing the car was stripped down and prepared for racing, the engine a mix of 306 Maxi rally and 406 Supertourisme. Once completed, the engine had an impressive 280hp, this would be no slouch on the track.

Thankfully the car was given the all-clear by scrutineers and it was time to race. Eligible for the Class 2 Super Touring category, the 806 would go head-to-head against some of the finest touring cars of the era. On race day, sadly technical trouble would see the car unable to complete the full 24 hours. Racer, Pascal Witmeur remembers: “Everytime we passed by Raidillon, people were applauding. The public liked it, because apart from being atypical, it was often on two wheels!”
