If you really want to leave all your friends scratching their heads in befuddlement at your next car meet, you’ll want to take a look at Collector Cars Auction’s Automobiles au Palace sale on November 30th, which features some real head-turners. However, what truly stood out to us was this Glas 1700 GT Coupé, which appears to have just rolled out of uncanny valley.

Many younger car aficionados might have never heard of Glas, after all, the brand was absorbed by BMW in the mid-1960s. However, before the takeover, the marque built 1,445 units of this incredible automobile: the Glas 1700 GT Coupé. Equipped with a 1700cc inline four cylinder engine and 2+2 bodywork from Frua, this example’s bulging arches and 930 Turbo-esque whale tail rear wing make it look like an AI-generated mashup of sports cars from around the world built during the 1960s and 1970s. However, don’t expect ludicrous performance from this 1967 example, because with 100 horsepower on tap, it won’t be dispatching anything from Maranello or Stuttgart in a hurry, even with those fabulous meaty tyres and side-exit exhaust.

Believed to have been prepared for period racing for promotional purposes, this 1700 GT has been cared for by the same owner since 1989 and currently shows 61,723 kms. Overall in decent condition but showing some signs of wear, this Glas is more than deserving of a restoration to its former glory. If you have a love for the more obscure side of the automotive world, don’t pass up this amazing opportunity!
