Its first owner, Mr Curt Lincoln, raced it throughout Scandinavia and also holds the honour of finishing first in class in the 1961 Leningrad Grand Prix - the only Jaguar to have raced within the USSR during the Cold War.
In more recent years it has completed many Mille Miglia Retrospectives and would be a shoo-in for most of the world’s events. Remember, the Le Mans Classic will be held again in 2014.
Buyers missing out on this racing Jaguar can also consider the car that RM will offer at its London sale this September, the ‘long-nose’, ex-factory, ex-Ecurie Ecosse 1955 Jaguar D-type, chassis XKD 504.
Related Links RM’s 16-17 August, Monterey-sale D-type is joined by other blue chip cars including: a 1955 Ferrari 750 Monza, a 1950 Ferrari 166 Barchetta by Touring, a 1961 Ferrari 400 Superamerica Coupé SWB Aerodinamico and a 1953 Maserati A6GCS/53 Spyder by Fantuzzi.
