A trio of Modern Zagatos take centre stage at RM Sotheby’s St. Moritz Auction

What does the Ferrari 599, Bentley Continental GT, and Aston Martin DB7 have in common? They all have ultra-rare Zagato versions that will be up for auction at RM Sotheby’s St. Moritz sale.

When we saw that a triplet of Zagato’s modern coachbuilt collector cars were going under the hammer on September 9th at RM Sotheby’s St. Moritz 2022 auction, we knew we had to take a closer look. So, let’s examine each of these three stylish modern classics to find out what makes them so special, starting with this 2003 Aston Martin DB7 Zagato. Just 99 of these British grand tourers were given the Zagato treatment, which would usually make this V12-powered GT the rarest ride in the parking lot, but our next two Zagatos are even more difficult to come across.

Next up is this 2007 Bentley Continental GTZ, which was one of just nine to receive new coachwork in Milan. This represented the first collaboration between Bentley and Zagato, and feature the signature double-bubble roof. Based on the Continental GT Speed, this GTZ cost a whopping 227,000 euros when new, thanks to a whole host of upgrades, and that was before its Zagato conversion. The Italian coachbuilder then gave the car a 415,000 euro makeover, resulting in the eye-catching Anglo-Italian brute you see here. Having covered just over 3,000 miles from new, this is a stunning example of an incredibly rare grand tourer.

Our third and final coachbuilt beauty is this gorgeous 2008 Ferrari GTZ Nibbio. One of only nine coupes ever made, this example was commissioned by Japanese collector Yoshiyuki Hayaki in 2014 at an eye-watering cost of 750,000 euros. Not only is it extremely rare, we think this 612 bhp V12 prancing horse is also easily the most attractive of the three Zagatos we’ve presented today. Finished in an effortless sleek bespoke shade of Liquid Black that took Zagato six months to develop, this is truly one extraordinary machine.
