A recurring debate here in the Classic Driver office is often one of lottery-winning cars. A car you’d, without any hesitation, track down and purchase should those illusive matching numbers align. Golden-era Ferraris are often brought up, quirky pre-merger AMGs, too, but collectively, we all agreed the car that would be first on the list would be the Alfa Romeo Disco Volante. It is impeccable in its original form, but Officine Fioravanti have taken it one step further with their Manuale.

In this special year that celebrates 100 years of Carrozzeria Touring, fellow coachbuilders Officine Fioravanti have just launched this interpretation of a “Moving piece of art,” now featuring a mechanical connection that makes every drive an unforgettable one. According to Officine Fioravanti, this was a project born from the desire to enhance what was already exceptional, intervening only where the connection between car and driver could be made even more intense.

Every component of the newly added manual transmission has been engineered, adapted and refined to integrate seamlessly into the car’s character. Having successfully converted another of Alfa Romeo’s icons, the 8C, which we have been lucky enough to experience for ourselves, the Disco Volante Manuale brings another one of the Italian marque’s design masterpieces an entirely new personality when out on the open road. A manual-swapped Disco Volante most certainly wasn’t on our 2026 bingo cards, but nine days in are we already looking at one of the best cars to come out of this year? Time will tell!
