On the topic of BMW’s rarest models, it’s easy to overlook the jaw-dropping 507 Roadster when so many fantastic limited-run dream cars have left Bavaria in the 60-plus years since the 1950s stunner’s production ended. However, with just 252 of these hand-built, aluminium-bodied beauties ever made, it’s no surprise that these incredible sports cars often reach deep into seven figure territory in the market. Today we present an incredible opportunity to acquire a well-specified and highly original Series II example — benefitting from strengthened suspension components, a higher compression ratio, and an improved gearbox synchromesh — available with Grand Prix Classics.

Chassis #70082 was finished November 6th, 1957, in the fabulous specification of white bodywork with an eye-catching red leather interior. It arrived at BMW’s distributer Gustavo Zingg in Caracas, Venezuela, with numerous desirable options, such as the removable hard top, Rudge knock-off wheels and not one, but two radios. Its first owner, Gustavo Quintero, kept the car for three years before selling it on to a young man by the name of Ruben Senior. Senior cherished his 507 for decades, taking care of it until 2015 when it was shipped to Florida, where it has been looked after since by Senior’s son. To this day it remains a two-owner car from new.

During Senior’s lengthy ownership, he fastidiously maintained his stunning BMW, with records revealing that between 1966 and 1967, extensive mechanical work was done on the engine, clutch, transmission, and brakes by BMW’s authorised dealership in Caracas. In 1986, it was rejuvenated with a fresh coat of its factory-correct white paint, while the leather interior was also reupholstered in the original shade of red. In 2010, the canvas top and weatherstripping were replaced, and after arriving in Florida, its carburettors were cleaned and tuned, the radiator was refreshed, the transmission was rebuilt by ZF in Germany, and all four brakes were restored. Today it retains an incredible number of original parts, such as dash knobs and instruments, date stamped wheels, and a matching numbers engine and transmission, making this the perfect 507 to add to your collection of BMW’s finest.
