There was a collective sigh of relief throughout the Classic Driver office when we saw the news. Eyes frantically scanning the press releases entitled "Jensen International Automotive (JIA) will launch an all-new ultra-high-performance, luxury British GT inspired by the iconic 1960s Jensen Interceptor, next year" hunting for just a hint of the powerplant. “Please don’t be an EV, please don’t be an EV,” the chants began to echo, as the anticipation built, but then we spotted those magic words. “V8-powered" – just the way it should be, especially when you’re following in the footsteps of one of the best named cars ever made.
2026 will see the Jensen name return to our roads, a marque which officially closed the doors of the original company in 1976, after being founded and operated by two brothers since 1934. Here’s hoping third time is a charm for the Jensen name, after two unsuccessful revival attempts were made in the decades that followed. Promising to be entirely new from the ground up, the new car will feature an aluminium chassis, bespoke V8 power, and a fully analogue driving experience.

Jensen International Automotive will handcraft the car for sale in the UK in ultra-low numbers, drawing on decades of expertise and longstanding experience in the automotive industry. The business will also create a new, dedicated division focused solely on the rapid development of the all-new GT model. They were keen to state, this is no restomod, nor a continuation, rather standing proudly as a completely new car in its own right.
For now, we only have the single mysterious image to ponder over, and we’re just excited to see a Jensen Interceptor-inspired GT that connects its 60-year heritage with modern-day innovations!
