Description

A VERY RARE PIECE OF HISTORY

One of the twenty cars that ran the famous Nürburgring Race of Champions 1984, which served to promote the newly-designed racetrack which had remain closed since Niki Lauda's tragic accident in 1976.

All living F1 world champions were invited to this legendary race, with only 5 declining the chance to compete (Fangio, Piquet, Andretti, Fittipaldi and Stewart). Upon recommendation by Emerson Fittipaldi, who was qualifying for that year's Indy 500, a then unknown Brazilian compatriot named Ayrton Senna was invited. Ultimately, Senna qualified 3rd and won the race, ahead of legends including Lauda, Prost, Reutemann and Hunt. This unexpected victory marked Senna's arrival at racing's highest level, followed only three weeks later by his legendary 2nd place finish at the F1 Monaco Grand Prix with a Toleman-Hart.

After the race all the cars except those driven by Senna and Lauda, were returned to their original condition and sold to the public.

This specific car, with official factory certification and history, was driven by John Watson and finished 5th in the race and is signed by the driver.
