Mit dem 3500 GT begann für Maserati Ende der 1950er-Jahre eine neue Ära: Erstmals verband die Marke ihre große Rennsporttradition mit dem Anspruch, luxuriöse Gran Turismo für die Straße zu bauen. Der 3500 GT wurde damit zum ersten echten Serien-Maserati – und legte den Grundstein für den späteren weltweiten Erfolg der Marke.

Der Maserati 3500 GT Spyder, karossiert von Carrozzeria Vignale, stellt die offenste und zugleich exklusivste Interpretation dieses Meilensteins dar. Eleganter als das Coupé, technisch identisch mit den erfolgreichen Rennsport-abgeleiteten Sechszylindern aus Modena, verkörpert der Vignale Spyder italienische Leichtigkeit, handwerkliche Perfektion und zeitlose Eleganz.

Das hier angebotene Fahrzeug, Baujahr November 1961, wurde im Januar 1962 nach New York ausgeliefert und befindet sich aktuell bei Scuderia Azzurra in einer kompromisslosen Frame-off-Restauration. Ziel ist ein authentischer Concours-Zustand – technisch wie optisch auf höchstem Niveau.

Die klassische und äußerst elegante Farbkombination „Azzurro Vincennes“ mit einer Innenausstattung in Leder „Light Gray“ unterstreicht die Linie des Vignale-Designs perfekt. Als besondere Seltenheit wird dieser Spyder – wie einst ausgeliefert – mit originalem Hardtop fertiggestellt.

Technisch wird der Maserati vollständig neu aufgebaut: Motor, Getriebe und gesamte Technik werden komplett überholt. Zusätzlich erhält das Fahrzeug zahlreiche hochwertige Details, darunter fünf neue originale Borrani-Speichenräder, einen neuen Aluminiumtank sowie eine NOS-ANSA-Auspuffanlage aus originaler Lagerware.

Individuelle Sonderausstattungen wie Klimaanlage, zuschaltbare Servolenkung oder ein historisches Radio mit Bluetooth-Funktion können derzeit noch nach Kundenwunsch definiert werden.

With the 3500 GT, Maserati entered a new era at the end of the 1950s. For the first time, the marque successfully combined its great racing heritage with the ambition to build luxurious Gran Turismo cars for the road. The 3500 GT thus became Maserati’s first true series-production model and laid the foundation for the brand’s subsequent international success.

The Maserati 3500 GT Spyder, bodied by Carrozzeria Vignale, represents the most open and at the same time the most exclusive interpretation of this milestone. More elegant than the coupé yet technically identical, featuring the race-derived straight-six engines from Modena, the Vignale Spyder embodies Italian lightness, craftsmanship and timeless elegance.

The car offered here, built in November 1961, was delivered to New York in January 1962 and is currently undergoing a no-compromise frame-off restoration at Scuderia Azzurra. The objective is a truly authentic concours condition, both mechanically and cosmetically, executed to the highest standards.

The classic and highly elegant colour combination “Azzurro Vincennes” with an interior trimmed in “Light Gray” leather perfectly complements the refined lines of the Vignale design. As a rare and highly desirable feature, this Spyder will be completed with its original hardtop, just as it could be specified when new.

Technically, the Maserati is being completely rebuilt. Engine, gearbox and the entire mechanical system are fully overhauled. In addition, the car will be equipped with numerous high-quality and authentic details, including five new original Borrani wire wheels, a newly fabricated aluminium fuel tank, and a genuine rarity: an ANSA NOS exhaust system from original old stock – a rare and highly sought-after period option even when the car was new.

Individual optional equipment such as air conditioning, switchable power steering or a period-style radio with Bluetooth functionality can still be specified according to the future owner’s wishes.
