Description
Chassis No. 1ZVBP8CFXB513701
At the 2011 Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association show in Las Vegas, this unique Ford Mustang debuted as a featured attraction. Co-sponsored by WD-40, the manufacturer of many automotive and household products, the Mustang borrowed liberally from the stock of SEMA members, showcasing numerous aftermarket products on display at the show that year.
The body was fitted with urethane body kits from Street Scene Equipment and finished in special yellow and blue PPG paints by L&G Enterprises, and a custom Katzkin leather interior installed with a Grant Revolution airbag steering wheel; Polk audio amps, speakers, and subwoofers; and stereo work by Audio Innovations. Especially notable was the work done to the chassis, which was modified with Hotchkis sway bars and Panhard rods, springs, and braces, as well as Stillen/AP Racing six-piston front and four-piston rear disc brakes. The original 5.0 V-8 was dressed with a Paxton supercharger with intercooler, Magnaflow cat-back exhaust system with crossover pipe, and GTR performance tuning, for output of some 600 horsepower, as well as cosmetic accessories by California Pony Car; the six-speed transmission was mated to an Advance Clutch Technology double-disc clutch system. Forgeline wheels, 20x9 in the front and 20x10.5 in the rear, were the finishing touch, shod in Nitto extreme performance NT555 tires.
Following its exhibit at SEMA in November 2010, the special Mustang went on tour to select automotive events on the West Coast, then in 2011 was sold to benefit the SEMA Cares causes, Childhelp and the Victory Junction Gang Camp. The buyer was John Staluppi, the noted collector of American performance automobiles, who kept the Mustang in his Cars of Dreams Museum for a year before it was acquired by Jim Taylor in November 2012.
Mr. Taylor has actually enjoyed this car on the road, and what was bought as a preserved 'new' showpiece now has 4,280 miles at the time of cataloging. It remains, however, in very good order throughout, and is still sure to be one of the most distinctive, unique, and potent modern Mustangs wherever it ventures next.
