The epitome of boulevard bravado
In principle, the notion of removing the roof from an ultra-focused sports car is irrational: the body loses stiffness, and the aerodynamic silhouette is inevitably compromised. But let’s be honest, most supercar buyers will not care about losing a few tenths on the track if it means they have the most dramatic car on the boulevard. In this respect, the Lamborghini Aventador SV Roadster – revealed this weekend at the Monterey Car Week – is a logical consequence. The engineers have managed to retain performance numbers boasted by the SV coupé (740bhp; 217mph top speed; 0-62mph in 2.9 seconds), and have kept the weight of the carbonfibre roof to a mere 12kg. Production begins in Spring 2016, with each of the 500 examples costing €357,000 plus local taxes.
