The Alfa Romeo GT Junior represents contemporary Italian style, classic sportiness, timeless elegance and pure driving pleasure. Enthusiasts will find themselves instantly tempted by the GT Bertone on your screen, as this is an early series example, celebrated for its original styling with the distinctive opening between the bonnet and the grille. Moreover, this specific and unspoiled example has recently been expertly restored, with a clearly visible focus on authenticity and original details of this legendary Gran Turismo. In short, this bella Bianco has been restored with great respect. Over the past 25 years, this classic among Alfa classics has had one single owner, making it no small task to coax this pristine white design marvel into our care. After a first encounter in person, you will immediately understand why. Or perhaps the photographs already say enough.
History
Bertone struck car enthusiasts worldwide straight in the beating heart when he created the Alfa 105 and 115 series coupés. Remarkably, this was the very first major project of Giorgetto Giugiaro, whose career was still in its infancy at the time. From that moment on, the world lay at his feet. The groundbreaking design has been subtly refined over the years, but among enthusiasts the original version has always been the most cherished. It is also known as the letterbox model, named after the characteristic air intake slot at the front. Our Italian beauty originally hails from France and was first registered on 10 March 1967. For the past quarter of a century, this charismatic style icon remained in the hands of one owner. In recent years the focus was on restoration and the careful preservation of authenticity. The restoration was carried out professionally and the attention paid to original details is truly impressive. And rightly so, because the charm of an Alfa Romeo GT 1300 Junior is not something one should ever tamper with.
Exterior
After such a restoration, it comes as no surprise that the overall condition is absolutely stunning. This certainly applies to the exterior, where the immaculate Bianco paintwork radiates class and purity. The bodywork itself is a genuine masterpiece and in this condition more than ever a joy to admire. It is extraordinary how the Bertone design has proven to be both groundbreaking and timeless at the same time. Only Italy could achieve something like this. Where its predecessor was round and elegant, the GT Junior is defined by clean lines and a confident stance. The coupé roofline is recognisable, yet not as distinctive as the flat front end. Originally, the 1300 Junior featured two large round headlamps with a wide chrome bar between them, connecting visually to the famous Scudetto grille. Above it sits a strikingly narrow opening across the full width of the bonnet. This air intake is the reason behind the affectionate nickname letterbox. One can be sure that many love letters have been written to the Alfa 1300 GT Junior.
Interior
The interior evokes strong nostalgic emotions and stands as a fine example of classic Italian design. The leather upholstery, the wooden dashboard trim and details such as the original radio and chrome ashtray have all been maintained or restored with great care and passion. Take note as well of the compact wooden steering wheel with three aluminium double spokes, practically begging to be held firmly.
Technology
That feeling is further enhanced the moment the key is turned in the ignition, a few clicks later bringing the 1290 cc four cylinder Twin Cam engine to life with a delightful rasp. It feels as if time has stood still. Or better yet, as if we are able to appreciate the craftsmanship of the 1960s even more in 2026. Welcome to the analogue world. Without historic legends like the Alfa Romeo GT Junior, modern macchina would never have had a soul. See, hear and experience what makes a classic a true classic. Now exclusively at Prins.
