The Dodge Power Wagon is among the most iconic trucks ever produced. Introduced as a civilian model of the Dodge WC that had served worldwide during World War II, it was produced for thirty-five years in numerous variations, sold and in use all over the world. Many Power Wagons remain in service, testament to their robust construction and durable, long-lived engineering. They are also widely collected and always popular wherever they are displayed or driven.

Jim Taylor acquired this Power Wagon, the most recent addition to his collection of heavy-duty Dodge trucks, from a seller in Colorado in 2015. It is configured with a closed cab and a flatbed, similar to the original WC design that served the military so well for so many years. Markings on the doors indicate that it may have formerly served as a ranch vehicle in the Centennial State. As one would expect from a Western truck, it remains in very solid overall condition, with minimal surface rust, and has a very authentic and purposeful appearance, emphasized by a massive winch that can pull it out of just about any predicament. The cab is outfitted with a pair of bucket seats, crank-out windshields with electric wipers, a spotlight, and front-mounted cab lights and air horns, supplied by an electrical system upgraded with an alternator and 12-volt battery. At the time of cataloging, the truck had recorded 21,273 miles.

Appealing as-is or as the ideal basis for converting to any other style that the new owner might wish, this is a thoroughly charming Power Wagon, still with plenty of grunt and life left in it. It would look right at home on the field at Hershey, perhaps with a vintage race car in the bed – or as the ultimate tow vehicle, coming to the rescue of friends!
