Description
"Maserati revived the Ghibli name for the Bi-turbo in the 1990s. Intended to challenge BMW and Mercedes-Benz in the luxury sport saloon market, the Bi-turbo was of conventional build with front engine, rear wheel drive format and featured independent suspension, four-wheel disc brakes and an interior boasting sumptuous leather upholstery and wood veneer trim. The unitary constructed body/chassis was styled in-house by Innocenti, part of the De Tomaso empire, as were Maserati. A five-speed manual gearbox or a three-speed automatic transmission were available and the cars came with a limited slip differential as standard. Power was from a 2.0 litre, three-valves per cylinder, V6 and as the model range expanded, 2.5 litre and 2.8 litre engines were introduced. Launched at the Turin Motor Show in April 1992, these well-appointed Italian classics are becoming increasingly desirable.
This exquisite Ghibli was originally registered on 26th April 1994 and has had four previous keepers. The current vendor has owned this Maserati since January 2015 and has spent significant sums to ensure the car presents in the finest condition. Throughout his stewardship over £18,000 has been spent with McGrath Maserati including an engine rebuild, rebuilt turbos, new belts, new brake discs and pads all round and replacement of brake pipes. The paintwork has recently been refreshed to an exceptionally high standard, for no reason other than there were a few age related marks which the fastidious vendor wanted to take care of prior to finding the car a new owner. Finished in dark metallic green with tan leather trim, this Maserati is supplied with a V5C registration document and a full year’s MoT test certificate together with the original handbooks and a history folder; this is surely one of the best righthand drive Ghibli’s available today."
