Would you pay 300,000 euros for a convertible S-Class?

Mercedes-Maybach’s first convertible, the S 650, might channel the brand’s new ‘Sensual Purity’ philosophy and boast a ‘flowing’ interior, but does that warrant the 300,000-euro price tag?

Hot and Cold

That said, there are only a handful of cars that could rival or exceed the new Mercedes-Maybach S 650 Cabriolet – of which just 300 will be built – in terms of drop-top luxury. It takes several of the ‘hot and cold’ design cues from the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 that was revealed at the Paris Motor Show earlier this year, including the 20-inch forged wheels and the ‘waterfall-like’ leather upholstery. Each of the 6-litre V12-powered cars will be individual to the customer, and accompanied by a welcome kit and a diamond-quilted car cover in the same colour as the car’s soft-top.
