This Ferrari 250 GTE was delivered new in 1962 through U.S. Ferrari importer Luigi Chinetti and was first owned by Chrysler designer George Cushing, who specified it in the stunning Rubino Rosso, one of Ferrari’s most elegant shades of red, over black Connolly leather, a combination it retains today.

In 1965, the car made its way to France, finding new ownership with a Simca designer. By the late 1990s, it underwent a complete mechanical overhaul at the renowned Charles Pozzi dealership, ensuring its continued reliability.

The car was prepared to participate in the Cavallino Classic Modena 2025 and is accompanied by its original owner’s manuals, document pouch, and tool roll. The vast majority of the interior remains untouched and in its original condition. The correct ANSA exhaust system has been reinstalled, oil filters replaced with period-correct units, and fuel lines renewed, always with a clear focus on preserving originality. The original Marchal headlamps have also been refitted, with minor details addressed by expert hands.

As Ferrari’s first true four-seater, the 250 GTE opened the marque to a broader audience, appealing to successful entrepreneurs, aristocrats, and even law enforcement agencies. The Rome police famously operated a dark blue example for high-speed pursuits. The model became Ferrari’s best-selling car of its time, with approximately 955 units produced across three series between 1960 and 1963.

More than just a grand tourer, the Ferrari 250 GTE represents a key moment in the brand’s history, combining performance, usability, and elegance. This example offers an excellent opportunity to acquire a highly collectible Ferrari from the 1960s.
