Description
Starting in 1978, Porsche came out with a new design, the Porsche 928. They put the focus to produce a lighter model than its predecessor, so the doors, fenders and hood were made in aluminum. The 928GT was the sportier and more powerful version of the 928S4. The Gran Tourismo version delivered extraordinary performance with its 330hp water-cooled 5.0-liter V8 engine. Production ran from early 1989 through 1991 and with a total of only 1600 928 GTs produced; this is still a highly sought-after car by the true 928 lovers to this day.
Besides the famous electric folding headlights and the large rear window in the trunk lid, the Porsche 928GT was best known for its totally innovative rear axle, the Weissach axle with a stabilizing spur that worked like a rear wheel steering system and therefore contributed to the safety of the car.
This car completes the history of the 928. This original Dutch car was first delivered to its first owner in 1991 and is therefore the last Porsche 928GT imported by Pon Porsche. The first owner was a true 928 enthusiast, he drove a 928 all his life and after his last 928 was stolen the owner decided to buy a new one, this 928GT. Because of the above-mentioned experience, he had all kinds of extras installed by the factory to prevent theft. The car was fitted with armored glass all around and a type III anti-theft device. The owner found this still not enough and he had stainless steel pins installed in the doors as an extra security. Furthermore, the owner ordered almost every option that was available. The red full leather interior in combination with the schwarze Metallic-Lackierung makes this car a beautiful whole.
The first owner used the car mainly in Spain and brought it back when he moved back to the Netherlands. The car was maintained by the previous owner as it should be, every year a maintenance and every four years a new timing belt. The car had only 3 owners since 1991 and this can still be seen today in the state of this car, no worn vehicle but a well-maintained Porsche 928 that has always been properly serviced.
In short, this very last new delivered in the Netherlands Porsche 928GT not only looks beautiful but also drives incredibly well with its 330 HP V8 engine and the story behind this car makes the picture complete.
This beautiful Porsche 928GT is now for sale at Rock 'N Roll Classics.
