Description
The 901, the first generation of the most mythical sports car, appeared in 1964. It is the purest incarnation of the 911: a minimalist size, an elegant and harmonious profile, the engine in "backpack" of a modest but sufficient displacement of 2 liters cooled by air, a manual gearbox with 4 speeds, the recipe for happiness. As nowadays, different versions have been developed: S, RS... We offer for sale this rare 911 L "short chassis".
Put on the road on January 1st 1968 in the United States and imported in 2006, it has 93,817 miles on it. Chassis number 11805021 (911 L Coupe US: 118 0 5001 to 118 0 5449), our car was originally imported in the US and is matching numbers. A part of the history is available, showing a period of its life spent in Germany, with several invoices made within the Porsche network. Technical checks, Histovec and CarVertical reports are favorable and available as well.
ENGINE AND GEARBOX
The flat 6 with a displacement of more than enough for such a light 2-liter car develops 110 horsepower. The engine starts without any problems or suspicious oil leaks or fumes. During the drive, the acceleration thrust is straightforward and without any power dip, and it is well calibrated thanks to a relatively easy-to-handle 4-speed manual transmission.
EXTERIOR
From the outside, you can recognize this "short chassis" or rather short wheelbase version thanks to the torsion bar flap almost touching the wheel arches. Apart from this specificity, the look of the famous coupe does not change: no ostentatious aerodynamic appendages alter the line dressed in a deep black. The traditional Fuchs 5-spoke wheels are in very good condition and there are no signs of corrosion.
INTERIOR
The black-clad interior is in very good condition and has a very decent finish. The standard comfort seats are very supportive and have no cracks, holes or scratches. The relatively spacious rear seat is also free of wear and tear. The driving position is optimal, the gearshift lever is easy to reach and the steering wheel is made of raw wood with a beautiful patina. The black felt roof liner is in perfect condition. The black plastics of the dashboard and its console are undamaged and have no cracks. The black background instrumentation with the layout dear to Porsche is in perfect working order and shows a very good visibility thanks to the thinness of the steering wheel and we note the presence of a vintage radio that blends perfectly with the dashboard. The ventilation also works.
CONSUMABLES
The tires currently fitted are Firestone TZ300a size 195/65 R15 from late 2009 in very good condition with some wear at the front and rear. The brakes do not show any sign of advanced wear.
