Description

Chassis No. WP0AB2960LS450595

The 1989 Porsche 911 marked the debut of the long-awaited successor to the "G-Series," the Type 964, which was introduced as the all-wheel drive Carrera 4 model with its modern looking body-color bumpers. Initially overlooked by collectors due to its familiar appearance, the 964 is now recognized as a significant and collectible evolution of the air-cooled, rear-engine platform. The new 3.6-liter flat-six engine delivered a smooth 247 horsepower and 229 lb-ft of torque. By 1990, the 911 was available in Coupe, Targa, and Cabriolet body styles, with the rear-wheel-drive Carrera 2 praised for its more engaging and pure driving experience. Equipped with standard features like anti-lock brakes, dual front airbags, a dual-mass flywheel, and variable-assist power steering, the 964 offered impressive refinement.

Produced 21 November 1989, this 1990 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 Coupe was finished from factory in matching non-metallic Black over a Black leather interior. It was equipped from the factory with the desirable five-speed manual transmission, limited-slip differential, electric sliding sunroof, and Blaupunkt Reno radio with additional amplifier. This example is additionally fitted with 'aero' mirrors and Cup 1 wheels, further honing its timeless design.

The Carrera 2's clean CARFAX Vehicle History Report records its first registration in Indiana in June 1990. The car was sold the following February before passing to its current owner in Connecticut in June 1993, who purchased it with approximately 28,000 miles recorded. It accumulated the majority of its mileage over the next four years. Over the next two decades, this 911 received careful stewardship: covering limited miles while receiving consistent maintenance from Porsche Hartford. Its most recent service at the dealership was completed in October 2025, which encompassed a comprehensive engine-out refresh with invoices on file totaling almost $27,000.

After more than three decades of single owner enjoyment, this 1990 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 Coupe is now ready for its next caretaker, showing 87,463 miles at cataloging. As one of the rarer and most coveted generations of 911, the 964 was produced in relatively limited numbers to begin with and in decades since has become the platform upon which many restomod builds have been based. As a result, discovering a clean and largely unmodified example such as the one offered here has become an increasingly rare occasion.
