Daytona Automobil presents an exceptional 1992 Porsche 911 Carrera RS (964), a true time capsule with only 7,350 km from new. This example represents what may be the finest 964 RS currently available on the market. A car for the most serious of collectors.
Originally delivered on 5 January 1993, this car was acquired by Daytona Automobil in 2022. At that point, it had covered just 7,340 km. It was subsequently sold to a prominent collector known for his dedication to Porsche’s heritage and his meticulous attention to detail. The car underwent a thorough, careful overhaul in April 2024 at a trusted Porsche specialist, with the intention of preserving and preparing it for the next stage in its life.
Finished in classic Black (L700) over a black interior (NR). It remains exactly as Porsche delivered it more than 30 years ago. Included in the sale is a complete set of original documentation, including the original purchase agreement and service book with stamped records and invoices.
This is a first-series 964 Carrera RS, one of just 2,282 examples produced. Developed as a homologation model and inspired by the legendary 1973 911 Carrera RS, the 964 RS was Porsche’s lightweight interpretation of the Carrera 2. Built using the stripped-down Carrera Cup race car as its foundation, the RS featured extensive weight-saving measures and mechanical upgrades that transformed it into a raw and much more focused car.
The M64/03 engine in the RS, a refined version of the standard Carrera 2 engine, produces 260 horsepower at 6,100 rpm and 229 ft-lb of torque at 4,800 rpm. Enhancements include pistons and cylinders, solid rubber engine mounts, a lightweight single-mass flywheel, and a reprogrammed ECU. Combined with a weight reduction of approximately 130 kg compared to the Carrera 2, the RS delivers a unique and highly analog driving experience.
The chassis also received significant upgrades, including a 40mm lower ride height, stiffer springs and shocks, larger sway bars, and adjustable front strut mounts. Lightweight magnesium Cup wheels were standard, along with thinner glass, aluminium front bonnet, and a simplified interior without power windows, rear seats, or sound insulation.
Finding a 964 RS in this condition and with such low mileage is exceptionally rare. Most surviving examples have seen considerable use or modification.
