This Mercedes Benz 280 SL Pagoda (W113) had its delivery in 1969 in California, USA. In 2015 it was re-imported to Holland via a dealer. In 2016 it was bought by a gentleman who had taken the 280 SL on a tour through beautiful Italy. Already in November 2016, the 280 SL was sold to the current owner, who partially restored it from 2016 to 2021. Various modifications were made such as swapping US headlights for German headlights and US bumpers for chrome original German bumpers. The Mercedes Benz 280 SL Pagoda was registered in 2021 and run in and optimized over the summer.

The color combination of the Pagoda makes hearts beat faster. The rare horizon blue with the cognac colored interior gives the Pagoda a special charm.

Das Spitzenmodell der SL-Baureihe W 113 leistet 170 PS aus seinen 2,8 l Hubraum. Als Nachfolger der 190 SL Reihe erfüllte sie den Wunsch vieler Kunden nach mehr Leistung und Komfort. Die Pagode hat durch die Laufruhe des großen Reihensechszylinders auch ausgesprochen gute Reisequalitäten zu bieten, was sie zu einem angenehmen Begleiter auf Rallyes & Ausfahrten macht. Die für die damalige Zeit neuartigen und richtungsweisenden Sicherheitsmaßnahmen sorgen für ein entspanntes Gefühl. Dazu gehörte unter anderem ein entschärfter Innenraum ohne Ecken und Kanten, Sicherheitsgurte als Sonderausstattung und definierte Knautschzonen. Die Bezeichnung „Pagode“ erhielt sie durch den Volksmund, da das konkav gewölbte Dach den Tempeln aus Fernost ähnelt – eben den Pagoden. Dabei war die Form ursprünglich rational als Verbesserung des Platzangebotes gedacht.
