Description
Lancia was founded in 1906 in Torino, Italy by Vincenzo Lancia and Claudio Fogolin. In subsequent decades Lancia’s reputation for innovative designs grew, and the firm became recognised as a World leading manufacturer who produced cars with a rally bred heritage. Lancia were not only responsible for success on numerous international rallies, but the standard of engineering and build quality of their cars was second to none.
The Aurelia B20GT, the model made before the Flaminia,555 featuring the world’s first production V6 engine, had enjoyed huge international acclaim. The Flaminia that succeeded it was a further development of the front-engined V6, rear transaxle theme. Bodied in four distinct styles, it was the Zagato variant that delivered the most powerful performance and arguably the most desirable styling. The final Zagato iteration was the SuperSport, featuring heavily revised bodywork, and boasting three 40 DCN Weber carburettors mounted on a strengthened 2.8-litre version of the V6 engine, producing 152bhp. It also featured all-independent front suspension and disc brakes all round. Only 150 examples were produced.
This particular Super Sport has its original 2.8 litre engine, and upgrades which include adjustable Zagato-style seats with lumbar support, custom stainless steel exhaust system with s/s headers, Amadori-style 15” magnesium alloy wheels, auxiliary electric fan, and a dynator (uprated alternator that looks like a dynamo). The braking system has been rebuilt with upgraded front callipers. It has been enthusiastically rallied around Europe and fully maintained regardless of cost.
The car will be sold complete with original seats, original trim, original (steel) wheels, original radio and wooden dash fascia.
