This Lancia Flaminia Super Sport Zagato was first registered on May 17, 1965, in Turin to its original owner, a gentleman born in Ohio in 1914 who later moved to Italy, the homeland of his family. Delivered new in Turin, the car remained within the same family from 1965 to 2025 and remarkably still retains its original Italian license plate (TO709005).
Finished in Blu Lancia, most of the bodywork still wears its factory-original paint, and its original cream leatherette interior remains untouched. With just over 60,000 kilometres from new, it is presented in exceptionally well-preserved condition.
In perfect mechanical order and recently serviced, the car has benefited from the replacement of worn components to ensure reliability while preserving originality. In November 2024, it underwent over 50 hours of conservative detailing, carefully carried out to enhance its presentation while maintaining its patina.
It is accompanied by an impressive set of original documentation, including manuals and toolkit, and is further certified with a Certificato di Rilevanza Storica (CRS), confirming its historical significance.
The originality and preserved condition of this Flaminia Super Sport make it an ideal candidate for prestigious concours d’élégance events, particularly in preservation classes, where its authenticity would stand out.
Introduced at the Salone dell’Automobile di Torino in November 1964, the Super Sport Zagato was produced in only around 150 units as the final evolution of the Flaminia series. Its distinctive design featured a Kamm-tail rear, refined front grille, teardrop headlights, and a lowered bonnet. Powered by a 2.8-litre V6 engine derived from the work of Vittorio Jano, it produced 152 horsepower and was capable of reaching a top speed of 210 km/h, making it the first non-racing Lancia to exceed 200 km/h. Extensive use of lightweight alloys, accounting for approximately 25% of the car’s construction, further enhanced its performance.
More than just a rare coachbuilt coupé, the Flaminia Super Sport Zagato stands out for its exceptional originality and single-family ownership. This example offers a unique opportunity to acquire a highly collectible and exceptionally original Lancia from the 1960s.
