History:
The Ferrari 512 BBi, produced between 1981 and 1984, represents the ultimate evolution of the Berlinetta Boxer series, succeeding the 512 BB. Its main innovation lies in the adoption of Bosch K-Jetronic indirect fuel injection, replacing the carburetors to meet stricter emissions standards while facilitating cold starts. Mechanically, it retains the famous 5-liter flat-12 engine, producing approximately 340 horsepower for an impressive top speed of 280 km/h. Aesthetically, it stands out with subtle details such as wider wheels, white parking lights, and the addition of small Ferrari badges on the rear pillars. This iconic model marked the end of an era for the Prancing Horse brand, before giving way to the legendary Testarossa.
This example was delivered new in Germany. It was imported to France in 2011 and has been owned by its current owner ever since.
Condition:
This 512 BBi is in excellent overall condition.
The body is in very good condition. The underbody is free of corrosion, and the chassis is in excellent condition. The alignment and fitment are good. The gray paint is smooth and has a beautiful sheen. This car is equipped with 16-inch wheels that allow for standard, modern tires, unlike the TRX. The original wheels are also available. The headlight lenses show no particular defects. A set of additional wheels will be included with the sale.
Inside the cabin, the black leather seats are very well preserved. The dashboard shows no defects. The headliner is taut. The black leather Nardi steering wheel is in excellent condition. The instrument cluster is fully functional.
The 4.9-liter 12-cylinder engine starts up smoothly and revs well. The timing belt was replaced in 2025. The manual transmission offers precise and smooth shifting. The handling is excellent.
