Description
Austin Healey 100/4 BN1 FIA
This Austin Healey 100/4 BN1 FIA spec was originally delivered new in the USA in 1954 as a left-hand drive. Returning to the UK in the 1980s, it was prepared for racing and converted to right-hand drive. Today, it is a well-known FIA-compliant racing car. It has competed extensively in the UK and then in Europe with Peter Auto in 2024 and 2025.
Well-built, reliable, and high-performing, these Healey 100s are particularly appealing for historic racing, offering enjoyment without requiring excessively large budgets.
The car was acquired by the current owner in 2023.
Engine:
Race-prepared engine (“rebuild to race spec”) by Denis Welch Motorsport (DWM) in 2016, then maintained for 5 years by DWM (complete dossier). Since then, the current owner carried out a major overhaul in 2024, including full engine disassembly and reassembly in the UK.
Transmission:
Short-ratio gearbox with straight-cut gears, fully dismantled and rebuilt in 2024 (complete dossier) + overdrive. Differential disassembled and rebuilt in 2017 by DWM.
Miscellaneous:
- Twin 2” SU H8 carburetors, special exhaust fitted at DWM in 2021.
- Steel/aluminum body in excellent overall condition, recently restored.
- Dunlop front disc brakes, rear drum brakes, dual circuit.
- High-ratio steering box (disassembled/rebuilt in 2017 at DWM) with safety column, aluminum foam-filled tank.
- Two Facet pumps, high-torque starter, high-capacity radiator.
- New FIA safety equipment from 2024: 100S windscreen, Tillet B6 scream adjustable bucket seat, Lifeline 6-point harness, mechanical OMP fire extinguisher system with spray nozzles.
Spare parts:
4 new 2024 wire wheels, tubeless, with 4 Dunlop Historic 550L x 15 tires (1 hour wear).
Some spare parts included (notably 3 additional wire wheels), including original parts removed during preparation.
Fuel:
98 + octane booster or 5SR+ RON 101.
A complete historical dossier since 2015 is also provided (invoices, results, setups, specifications, etc.).
This Healey holds its 2024 PTH, valid until 2034, and is ready to race. It is eligible for almost all historic competitions: Peter Auto Le Mans Classic, Peter Auto Gentlemen Challenge, RAC Woodcote Trophy, Equipe Classic Racing, GT & Sports Car Cup, FISCAR, etc.
The current owner raced the car for two seasons (2024 and 2025) with good results and several podiums.
