Description

This Audi Quattro GT 2.1 E, first registered in January 1981, is an exceptional and highly authentic Group 4 rally car built in full compliance with period Audi Motorsport specifications.

The car holds an official FFSA Historic Technical Passport issued in 2013, confirming its eligibility for Historic Group 4 competition, and has since taken part in numerous historic rally events such as the Historic Rallye Monte-Carlo.

Its competition pedigree is further enhanced by multiple rally victories achieved with renowned driver François Delecour behind the wheel. In 2012, the car underwent a complete restoration made by VMS Historique Cars, a renowned specialist in historic competition vehicles.

The work was carried out with a strong emphasis on authenticity, performance and reliability, faithfully reproducing factory Audi Motorsport Group 4 specifications. The chassis is based on an original Audi Quattro shell fitted with a full roll cage built to period-correct standards.

The engine was constructed by LHEMAN according to Audi Motorsport factory specifications and features the iconic turbocharged five-cylinder unit with Bosch K-Jetronic mechanical fuel injection and a K26 turbocharger. It delivers approximately 292 horsepower and 40 mkg of torque, transmitting power through a genuine Audi Motorsport Group 4 factory gearbox and permanent four-wheel-drive system. A true Audi Motorsport Group 4 limited-slip rear differential is fitted.

The suspension setup incorporates genuine factory Audi Motorsport Group 4 uprights and a hydraulic system developed by VMS Historique Cars. The complete chassis and tarmac setup were developed with the involvement of François Delecour, ensuring competitive handling and period-correct performance. The running gear features factory-spec Audi Motorsport triangulation with adjustable rose-jointed control arms.

Braking is handled by 290 mm floating discs front and rear, paired with AP Racing Group 4 four-piston calipers. Period-correct 15-inch Ronal wheels fitted with Michelin historic racing tires complete the package.

The car currently shows approximately 20,000 kilometers and is accompanied by an extensive and well-documented history file, including detailed records of its rally participations, restoration process, maintenance history and all relevant technical documentation.

This Audi Quattro Group 4 represents a rare opportunity to acquire a fully documented, historically significant and highly competitive rally car, prepared to the highest standards and associated with one of the most iconic names in modern rallying. Equally suited for prestigious historic rally events, demonstrations or inclusion in a serious motorsport collection, it stands as a true testament to Audi’s legendary Quattro heritage.
