Description

This delightful DB6 was completed by the factory on 27th September 1967 and originally sold via Odeon Motors of Barnet to the Davall Gear Co. Ltd on 19th January 1968, finished in Olive Green coachwork and optioned with automatic transmission, power steering, electric aerial and three ear spinners

According to a letter written in 1985 by former Aston Martin Lagonda historian Roger Stowers, he notes The Davall Gear Co Ltd ran two DB6 saloons with consecutive number plates, one of which was RAT 10, a highly appropriate cherished registration assigned in the early days of private number plates

The DB6 was retained by the original owners until 1st February 1977 when Mr Richard Punnett of Leatherhead acquired the car, it would remain with him for the following three years until it was acquired by its third and long term owners, Mr and Mrs Thoroughgood, on 7th March 1980, and remained with them for the following forty years!

Copies of the factory service notes indicate the car was maintained at Newport Pagnell until 1972 with mileage at 33,996. The comprehensive file accompanying the DB6 contains multiple parts and sundry invoices to the Thoroughgood’s from AML, Ian Mason and HWM throughout the 1980s and 1990s.

The DB6 benefitted from a body, chassis and interior restoration in 1985 (photos on file) and was refinished in period correct Dubonnet Rosso with Magnolia hides, as it presents today

In September 2009 the cylinder head was rebuilt to unleaded specification by R.S.Williams with a further invoice from October 2009 from H.W.M for additional engine and engine bay work, major service etc at £12,058

Throughout the 2010s the DB6 was regularly maintained by Webster and Lancaster, who rebuilt the brakes and suspension and fitted a stainless exhaust system amongst many other improvements

Supplied in excellent condition with a well-documented history that contains complete MoT certificates and tax discs dating back to 1986, which combined with its service history and small number of owners, confirms its original low mileage of just 55,800 from new
