Description

Transmission: 5 gears, Manual gearbox
Model year: 2022
Registration number: AM-02-67

This example is from 1960 and has only 54,000 miles on the clock. If we look at the condition of the car and the invoices present, we can hardly conclude that this concerns the original mileage. In addition, this DB4 still has its original engine, so this is a matching numbers copy. The DB4 was an absolute for Aston Martin. It was the first fruit of the collaboration between Aston Martin and Carozzeria Touring. The design was created in Italy but was unmistakably recognizable as Aston Martin. The car was manufactured according to the Superleggera construction method. This means that the aluminum sheet metal is mounted on a thin steel tubular frame. Although Touring was in Milan, Aston Martin was allowed to manufacture the sheet metal in-house. Aston Martin owed this mainly to the incredible craftsmen it employed at the time, who are known as the best panel beaters in the world at the time. This copy was ordered new by Inskip, the American importer at the time. The car has always been cherished by the different owners over the years and is therefore still in good and, moreover, very original condition.

The Aston Martin DB4 has been subjected to a partial restoration in the past, during which the bumpers were re-chromed and the paint was repainted. The body is beautifully original. The aluminum sheet metal is in very good condition and fits beautifully everywhere. The chassis of the car is in very good condition and looks like it could be cut through a ring. Here too it is clearly visible that over the years the car was only allowed outside in good weather and the majority of the time was in a heated garage. The car has been repainted as written. This work was carried out very well at the time and the car still looks beautifully cared for. The car stands on beautiful chromed new wire wheels.

The interior is completely original and a feast for the eyes. The leather is original and still wonderfully supple. The red carpets are also wonderfully smooth and look beautiful. The headlining is also beautifully cared for and still looks beautiful. The dashboard and the instruments not only look neat, but also all function as they should. The car was occasionally used by the previous owner for one-day touring trips with the Aston Martin club. A period-correct tripmaster has been installed in order to be able to take these trips with pleasure and well. The car is equipped with a beautiful wooden sports steering wheel with three spokes and the original gear knob. The Aston Martin still looks beautiful on the inside. Although the DB4 is a car of modest dimensions by today's standards, it is striking how much space the driver and co-driver have. It is therefore very easy to find a fantastic seating position. The DB4 was designated by Aston Martin as a true Gentleman Express. A car to cross all of Europe or the entire United States at speed.

Crossing continents is possible thanks to the 3.6 liter six-in-line in all comfort. The engine is an absolute masterpiece. The all-aluminium engine was designed by Tadek Marek and features two overhead camshafts. The engine produces 240 hp and is mated to a four-speed manual transmission. The transmission shifts precisely and has fine gear ratios that match the Gran Turismo character of the car. The engine is still the original one with which the car left the factory gates. This is therefore a matching numbers copy. A few years ago, the technology was subjected to a complete overhaul, whereby the head of the engine was also immediately prepared for unleaded petrol. The brakes and chassis have been fitted with new parts where necessary over the years and are therefore both in very good condition.

The car is exceptionally well documented with correspondence dating back to 1965! unbelievable. The documentation also includes a build sheet that confirms the matching numbers. In addition, there are several invoices that endorse the good condition of the car. In short, a beautiful Aston Martin DB4 Series 2.
