Description

- Remarkably original example, retaining its matching numbers engine and factory correct colours.
- Just three owners from new, the first of whom kept the car from new until 2014.
- Recently restored in line with its original specification, with total expenditure of approximately €60,000.

This Alfa Romeo 1300 Junior was completed in May 1974 and delivered in the elegant and seldom-seen colour combination of Grigio Indaco over a Maremma Pleather interior.

One year later, in May 1975, the car was purchased by its first owner, Mr L. Avagliano of Salermo, who kept it for nearly 40 years before selling it to its second custodian, a British enthusiast whose very first car had been an Alfa Romeo 105 Series Coupé. He had long promised himself that he would one day own another, but only if he could find a truly original example in excellent condition.

Following a friend’s recommendation, he travelled to Italy and purchased this very car directly from its original owner. After enjoying it for about a year, he placed the car into dry storage, where it remained until 2022. That year, the third and current owner acquired the Alfa and imported it to Sweden.

By that time, the car was in need of restoration. With full respect for its originality, the new owner commissioned a comprehensive refurbishment carried out by local specialists. The body was stripped and repainted in its original Grigio Indaco, while the engine was completely rebuilt. The total cost of the restoration amounted to approximately 650,000 SEK (around €60,000). The car has never been repainted in any colour other than its original, and both the gearbox and differential have never been taken apart. There is no unwanted noise from the transmission, and gear changes remain as smooth as they were in 1974. The right door panel was replaced at some point in its history, but all other body panels are original and have never required rust repair. The brake discs and calipers were recently renewed after the car had been stationary for many years.

Today, the car presents in exceptional condition, benefitting from recent restoration and having covered only 33,356 km from new under the care of just three owners. It retains its matching-numbers engine and original colours, as confirmed by Alfa Romeo’s Certificato di Origine. The car is exceptionally well documented, accompanied by its original Carta di Circolazione, a folder of invoices, and the Certificato di Origine. Included in the sale is also a tuned 2000 engine for those wishing to add a bit more grunt.
