Snapshot, 1914: Are you ready for the Cresta Run?

As winter hits the Swiss Engadine, so death-defying jet-setters from around the world descend on St. Moritz to plunge headfirst down the treacherous course of the Cresta Run…

Where else are men so ruthlessly separated from the boys than the Cresta Run? Since 1884, the toboggan race has been the ultimate test of courage and, as one of the most elite sporting events in the world, famous participants such as Gianni Agnelli and Gunter Sachs can be counted among those legends who have put their lives on the line to join the esteemed club of Cresta Run survivors. If you’re looking for an unusual gift for a particularly brave gentleman, the St. Moritz Tobogganing Club is offering Cresta novices the chance to test their mettle on the infamous run. Whether the recipient of the gift will have the courage to set off on the ice after the compulsory ‘death talk’, however, remains to be seen…
