Beschreibung

Presented for sale from over 25 years of single ownership, we are delighted to now have the opportunity to offer this exceptional Series 2 Aston Martin DB4, finished in California Sage with Suede Green hide interior.

Supplied via agents Cyril Williams Motors ltd, to its first Warwickshire based owner in June 1960, this attractive and early production second series DB4, is considered by many to be the most attractive of the DB4 series, identifiable by the high scoop bonnet line common to the DB4GT, the aluminium mesh front grille and rear wing line flowing into the ‘Cathedral’ shaped rear lamps. Constructed by Aston Martin, to famed Touring of Milan’s manufacturing principles of Superleggera (Super Light), the early DB4’s weight was quoted at a modest 1,308 Kilos which, when combined with the uprated power available with this example, offers superb all-round performance.

Last changing hands in 2000, the then new owner, who purchased the car from a former BOAC airline pilot, promptly set about having the car fully restored and upgraded to its current and indeed highly commendable concours condition. Within the restoration, completed between 2000 and 2002, the original engine was removed and rebuilt to 4.2 litre Vantage and lead-free fuel specifications, to meet DB4 GT performance, before being dynamometer tested at over 300 BHP with 318 ft / lbs of torque and re-fitted. Other upgrades fitted during the restoration included a rebuilt limited slip rear axle, with a high ratio final drive for the relaxed continental tours. The remainder of the restoration included chassis works, body restoration, rebuilt suspension with uprated anti–roll bar and brakes, all being rebuilt. The restored body, bare metal painted in Aston Martin California Sage, had all brightwork re-chromed and the interior was re-trimmed in top quality Connolly hides. In all, the standard of workmanship and quality of materials employed in the restoration are to the highest specifications.

Now available, having covered less than 8,000 miles after completion of its restoration, and in our opinion finished in the best DB4 colour combination of California Sage over Suede Green Connolly hides and Dark Green Wilton carpeting, this is undoubtedly a very rare opportunity.

Complete with a substantial bound history file, including invoices for the restorative works, parts and services employed, the specialised invoices for the engine rebuild and engine dynamometer printouts any many more related invoices. This exceptional and very attractive DB4, direct from over 25 years of devoted ownership, has to be seen and inspected to be fully appreciated.

Supplied inclusive of a manufacturer scheduled service, detailed preparation to our usual highest standards and with 12 months warranty and a new MoT certificate.

Available for viewing and inspection now, at our Hertfordshire showrooms.
