Beschreibung

Registered in England for the first time on the 29th March 1962, this TR4 was imported into Switzerland many years ago. In 2006 the then owner decided, irrespective of any costs, to convert the Triumph to the same specs as a period works rally car, starting with a (strengthened) bare shell. Included in the conversion was the installation of a roll cage to FIA regulations and the hard top was permanently bolted onto the body. To save weight, mudguards and boot lid in aluminium were fitted. The engine was overhauled and equipped with a sports camshaft, twin Weber 45 DCOE side-draft carburettors and a stainless-steel exhaust system resulting in a healthy power increase to 120 hp. The chassis was optimised with stabilisers, sports dampers, vented disc brake rotors with four piston callipers to the front and 15-inch Compomotive aluminium rims. The interior received sports seats with a Sabelt racing harness, a sports steering wheel as well as a trip master and a set of stop watches. The conversion was documented in December 2006 with a FIVA ID and in November 2007 the Triumph received it's FIA HTP for class GTS11. The cherry on the cake was the entry of all modifications in the Swiss registration document by the authorities. Acquired by the vendor a few years ago, the car saw enthusiastic use in historic rallies. A rare opportunity to acquire a complete, correct, tried and tested rally car in very good condition at a fraction of the building costs. The last MOT was completed in November 2020.
