Beschreibung

The Toyota 2000GT stands as one of Japan’s most significant and collectible automobiles, a car that redefined the country’s automotive image and proved that Japan could build a sports car to rival the best from Europe. Developed in collaboration with Yamaha, the 2000GT combined advanced engineering and a timeless design, making the 2000GT a valued landmark in motoring history.

This car is the 18th production car completed and the 35th sequential chassis out of only 351 examples built between 1966 and 1970, of which just 233 were right-hand drive. Completed in June 1967, this early-production car was delivered new through Toyota’s exclusive “Toyota Store” network in Tokyo, a high-end dealership program created specifically for the launch of the 2000GT.

Originally ordered in Thunder Silver, the specification was changed before completion to the more desirable Pegasus White (Paint Code 2309W) with a black vinyl interior. It retains its matching engine and Yamaha body numbers, confirming its authenticity as a genuine example.

Beautifully preserved and never compromised, this 2000GT remains in excellent overall condition, showing no evidence of rust or accident damage. It is accompanied by its original tools and jack.

Ownership History:

• June 30, 1967

• July 1967 – First Owner (Japan):

• Late 1960s – Second Owner (U.S. Diplomat):

Subsequently acquired by a U.S. Diplomat who exported the car from Japan and imported it into the United States.

• 1970 – Third Owner (Dominic Gallardi):

Sold by the diplomat to Dominic Gallardi, owner of A-1 Toyota in West Haven, Connecticut.

• 1990/1991 – Fourth Owners (Bob Tkacik & Peter Starr):

Purchased by Bob Tkacik and Peter Starr, well-known 2000GT collectors from Biddeford, Maine.

At the time of acquisition, the car showed only 17,900 km and was in excellent, original condition.

• March 25, 1991 – Fifth Owner (Mr. Watanabe, Japan):

Sold to Mr. Watanabe in Japan via K. Keniyoshi of New World Enterprises, Vancouver, BC.

• 1991–2014 – Long-Term Ownership (Mr. Watanabe):

Retained by Mr. Watanabe for approximately 25 years, during which time the car accumulated an additional 30,000 km of careful use.
