Beschreibung

– Restomod based on a 1975 Porsche 911 S, fully rebuilt in metal with no plastic or fiberglass
– Approximately 800 hours invested in body and chassis by Ulrik Ahlund
– Engine built by Bosse Strandell, former Convector Racing chief mechanic and renowned Porsche engine builder
– Built to RS/RSR 3.0 specification, estimated 280 hp and ~1,000 kg weight
– Only 316 km indicated since the complete rebuild; commissioned by a highly detail-oriented Swedish collector

Daytona Automobil presents an exceptionally engineered Porsche 911 Restomod, built on the foundation of a 1975 Porsche 911 S and executed to a level far beyond typical restomod projects. This car was constructed with inspiration from the 1974 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0 RS/RSR, but delivered with numerous enhancements while maintaining a somewhat OEM appearance.

The body and chassis work alone consumed roughly 800 hours, carried out by Ulrik Ahlund, known for period-correct metalwork and precision fabrication. Importantly, all elements are metal, with no fiberglass or plastic panels. Panel fitment, finish, and construction quality mirror or outperform factory standards, and the car presents as essentially new.

The centrepiece of the build is the engine, assembled by Bosse Strandell, a name well-known among Porsche experts. Strandell was the chief mechanic at Convector Racing, responsible for running Porsche 962 race cars. His reputation places him among the most respected Porsche specialists, comparable to period RUF, Kremer, or Schneider Motorsport builders.

The engine follows RS/RSR/IROC 3.0 architecture, engineered with period-correct components and extensive RSR-spec details:

– Base 3.0 SC block with new bearings, hardware, intermediate shaft, rails, chains, and mechanical tensioners
– Mahle 95 mm cylinders, stroke 70.4 mm, displacement 3000 cc
– RSR pistons with 10.5:1 compression
– RS camshafts and cam housings
– Modified RSR twin-plug heads
– Modified RS 3.0 injection pump with RSR fuel lines
– RSR pulleys, small RSR fan, RSR plastics, reinforced valve covers
– CNC Schöffler 40 mm RSR/Rally throttles
– RSR engine mounts and 43 mm RSR exhaust manifolds
– 911 R/Rally silencer
– RSR aluminium pressure plate, street clutch
– RSR twin-plug ignition with RSR distributor, red cap, and twin six-pin CDI boxes
– Rev limit 7,400 rpm, ignition 28° at 5000 rpm
– Gearbox: Type 915/SC with 7:31 ring and pinion

Estimated output is approximately 280 hp, delivered through the lightweight chassis for exceptional responsiveness.

The engine was built in 2018, using components costing roughly €70,000 at that time, a figure that would be significantly higher today. When combined with Strandell’s specialist labour, the value of the engine alone is substantial.

The rebuild extends across the entire vehicle. The interior, mechanical components, suspension, electrics, and underbody are finished to a level consistent with a factory-delivered RS/RSR-spec car or cars from famous restomod companies. Even unseen components, such as the matching spare wheel, were chosen with meticulous care.

The car sits on 9- and 11-inch Fuchs-style 15-inch wheels, wrapped in Michelin TB tyres, consistent with period setups. Total weight is estimated at ~1,000 kg, resulting in an exceptional power-to-weight ratio and one of the most analogue, authentic Porsche driving experiences possible.

The odometer shows only 316 km, representing the total running time since the completion of the entire build. The car was commissioned by a private Swedish collector with very high standards, and no expense or detail was overlooked.

In today’s market, a build of this quality would require:
– Approx. €250,000 in labour
– Approx. €100,000 for engine components alone
– Approx. €100,000 for remaining parts
– Plus the cost of the donor 911 S

This places the true build cost well beyond €450,000, excluding acquisition of the base car. Offered at €210,000, this example represents exceptional value.

This is one of the most faithful, high-quality, RS/RSR-inspired 911 builds available, executed by leading specialists, engineered to period specification, and presenting as essentially new. For enthusiasts, collectors, or anyone seeking a truly special air-cooled Porsche, this car stands in a class of its own. If you would like to hear the engine, we are happy to provide a video. Its sound alone conveys the calibre of this build.
