The world premiere of the W140 coupé series took place at the Detroit International Automobile Show in January 1992, with the advantage that its massive appearance was seen as normal there. Positive publicity could contribute to a smooth European introduction. This followed two months later in Geneva. Unfortunately it turned out differently.
The English Car magazine described the C140 as 'ugly, thirsty and arrogant'. Mercedes-Benz put it nicely in
the press kit: 'The premiere in Detroit received an extremely positive response.
There is a long tradition in Mercedes-Benz coupes. Representing the brand's top models for many decades, they have always been a special breed of elegant and sporty cars, distinguished by their advanced technology, performance and finesse. The timeless and elegant design shows their special character in particular.
Real production of the 500 SEC and 600 SEC (called S 500 and S 600 coupé from 1993) only started in the autumn

This is a beautifully put together S 600 from 1993. The car was delivered new in Marbella, Spain and if we look at the mileage, it looks like the car has barely been out of town. The car therefore looks to pass through a ring. That good condition is a combination of a loving owner, good maintenance, storing the car indoors and a low mileage of only 56,210 kilometers. That's just over 2,000 kilometers per year! Pretty special if you know what a pleasure it is to be out and about with a W140 S 600. The seats are fantastic. The chassis filters almost any unevenness out of the way and the V12 is very powerful at any speed, despite the weight of more than 2 tons.

The body is in beautiful condition. The sheet metal is nice and thin and the fits are correct. The paint is very neat for its age and only has some very light signs of use. The interior also looks like new. The leather used on the seats and rear seats is of course top quality and all instruments and controls are made to last and function as such. Naturally, you will lack nothing in this S-class coupé, all luxury is present. For example, the car has a sliding roof, climate control, electrically adjustable seats with memory, electrically operated windows, cruise control and sunshade for the rear window.

The car will be delivered including a complete board folder with maintenance book. This car is also interesting for entrepreneurs to drive in the Youngtimer scheme. In short, a "cathedral" of an S 600 coupé for less money than a bare middle class.

The new price of this S 600 coupe was 400,000 guilders at the time.

In total 8,573 of the S 600 coupe were produced.
