Maserati A6 GCS Berlinetta – Built in Argentina with Original Parts and Original Engine
Offered for sale is a remarkable legendary Maserati A6 GCS Berlinetta, reconstructed in Argentina using original Maserati components and an original Maserati engine, faithfully capturing the spirit and engineering of one of the most admired Italian sports racing cars of the 1950s.
The Maserati A6 GCS with the elegant “Berlinetta” (coupé) body by Pininfarina was designed in 1953 by the young Aldo Bravarone and unveiled at the 1954 Turin Motor Show. It would become the last Maserati bodied by the legendary Turin coachbuilder Pininfarina, marking the end of a remarkable collaboration.
The Berlinetta concept was born when Guglielmo Dei, Maserati’s Roman dealer, sought to answer the demands of his sporting clientele who wanted a more comfortable and protective racing car, particularly suitable for long-distance events and adverse weather conditions.
Following the Second World War, Maserati’s newly formed technical department in Modena, under chief designer Giulio Alfieri, developed a series of competition cars that would define the brand’s success: the A6, A6 G, A6 GCM, A6 GCS (Ghisa Corsa Sport) and later the A6G/54. These machines were sold to private drivers and proved highly competitive in both 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre classes, dominating circuits and road races across Europe.
From 1947 onward, road-going versions of the small six-cylinder Maserati A6 were produced. Most featured open “Barchetta” bodies crafted by renowned Italian coachbuilders including Allemano, Bertone, Fantuzzi, Frua, Ghia, Pininfarina, Vignale and Zagato.
Only four original examples of the A6 GCS Berlinetta were ever built—each slightly different—and all survive today. They are considered among the most desirable Maserati classics ever produced. Many enthusiasts and historians regard the A6 GCS Berlinetta as one of the most beautiful cars ever created.
This car has been carefully reconstructed in Argentina with original Maserati parts and an original engine, faithfully reproducing the mechanical and aesthetic character of the iconic Berlinetta.
A rare opportunity to experience the elegance, racing heritage and timeless design of one of Maserati’s most celebrated creations.
