Beschreibung
The Lamborghini 350GT is the very first production Lamborghini car ever made, known for its staggering performance, dramatic lines and superb V12 engine.
This Lamborghini 350 GT is the 29th Lamborghini ever made and was completed in early 1965 in Bianco over a Nero interior. Imported in Switzerland on May 65 through Foitek, the then Lamborghini importer, it was sold to Mr William Hausheer on July, 17 1965, through Garage du Quai du Mont-Blanc for an amount of 4,723,775 Swiss francs. The car then remained in Switzerland in the hands of its first owner for an indefinite period.
In the early 1980s, the car was bought in Geneva through Mr Philippe Fournier by Prince Al-Thani from Qatar to join his impressive Lamborghini collection. In 1987, the Prince's personal chauffeur, Mr Robin Bernard, drove the 350GT to the Lamborghini factory in Bologna to be completely restored, following what he did with all his Lamborghinis. The car was repainted by the factory in Nero over a Crema interior, its current configuration. Once the restoration was achieved, the Prince’s chauffeur drove back the car to its Geneva stables. From then on, the car stayed confidentialy stored in the Prince’s collection. The first known public appearance since restoration happened in 1997 at the Dijon-Prenois track during a Lamborghini club gathering (see archive photos).
The car was sold at auction by Oldtimer Galerie in Basel in 1999 (see catalogue) to its new owner, Mr Max Bobnar. The car was described as having covered only 3,000 km since the end of its restoration by Lamborghini. Max Bobnar kept the car until 2006 when it got sold to Mr Méroz in the canton de Vaud in Switzerland. The latter performed a large overhaul and maintenance jobs in the renowned workshop of Olivier de Siebenthal, for an overall amount exceeding 50,000 Swiss francs.
The current owner acquired the car in 2014. He has driven the car very scarcily since then with an actual mileage of 93,800 km only. Always well maintained, our all aluminium bodied 350GT is mechanically in perfect working order and in very good condition, demonstrating the quality of the work carried out in the past. With its 3.5 ltr original engine, chassis, body and gearbox, this fully matching numbers 350GT is the 29th 350 GT produced. As proof of its undeniable originality, its cold stamping is still in its original location, as are all of its identification plates.
A test drive confirmed how fabulous is the four-cam V12 engine; not only the car starts perfectly but it does not overheat; shows a good oil pressure, conforming its impeccable condition and performance. The gearbox is a pleasure to use with gears shifting smoothly. The car feels very sound, revs up perfectly without smoke. The 2015 tyres (front and rear), despite being old are in very good condition, and the four Girling disc brakes allow for emergency braking while keeping the car straight. Inside, the instruments are fully functional. The headlights are obviously functional, as are the indicators and electric windows.
This is a rare opportunity to acquire the very first page of Lamborghini fascinating history, a matching numbers car with a known history and a high degree of originality. The car can be viewed by appointment.
