Beschreibung

Few cars capture the spirit of post-war British motorsport quite like the Jaguar C-Type. Originally produced between 1951 and 1953, it represented a major step forward in racing car design by combining the proven mechanicals of the XK120 with a lightweight tubular chassis and an aerodynamically sculpted aluminium body. The result was a car that set new standards in endurance racing and quickly became one of the most admired sports cars of its era.

From its sensational debut victory at Le Mans in 1951 to a repeat triumph in 1953, the C-Type established Jaguar as a dominant force on the world stage. With only fifty-three examples built, it remains one of the most desirable and significant competition cars ever made. Among its early admirers were three Formula One World Champions, Guiseppe Farina, Alberto Ascari and Juan-Manuel Fangio, all of whom chose to own C-Types as road cars. At its introduction the model represented the very best of contemporary engineering and was among the most advanced road vehicles of its time.

The example presented here was meticulously constructed by Brazell Engineering Ltd between 2012 and 2013. Finished in the iconic combination of British Racing Green with complementary Suede Green leather, it exudes the unmistakable presence and purity of the original Jaguar competition cars. The interior shows a gentle, period-correct patina and the car is further enhanced by painted Old English White roundels and a custom-made tonneau cover.

Registered in the United Kingdom as a 1954 motor car and accompanied by a valid FIA Technical Passport, this C-Type is fully FIA correct and eligible for a wide range of prestigious historic racing and touring events. It carries a period Coventry-issued registration number appropriate to original factory specification, perfectly underscoring its credibility as a road-and-track machine.

The engineering beneath the skin is no less impressive. Built around Lynx Engineering chassis number 006 with a Shapecraft body, it is powered by a John Exley 3.4-litre straight-six engine featuring the correct C 4820-cylinder block and head, producing in excess of 280 bhp. Sand-cast H8 SU carburettors, a C-Type sump, Kent 460 cams, a Moss close-ratio gear-set with C-Type top cover, and a Pearson Engineering rear axle with 3.54 CWP and Thornton Power-Lock differential all contribute to a thoroughly authentic driving experience. Orson half-shafts and hubs, race-specification drum brakes, and an original-spec aluminium race fuel tank by M&W Wilkinson complete the mechanical specification.

Assembled by Brazell Engineering, specialists with over four decades of Jaguar heritage and custodians of multiple original C and D-Type cars, this is one of only two exacting recreations they have ever produced, and their first. Since completion, it has been enjoyed on the road and in limited competitive events by its single owner and has been diligently maintained by Brazell Engineering and M&W Wilkinson throughout.

Beautifully built, highly engaging to drive and offering the rare opportunity to enjoy the spirit of Jaguar’s most celebrated racing car at a fraction of the cost of an original example, this outstanding C-Type is now ready to fulfil the next custodian’s aspirations, whether on the open road or the historic grid.
