Engine No. A2874386

Ford's Model A was offered in numerous styles and configurations, suiting virtually every imaginable taste and need. This included both open and closed cab pickups, which retained the stock Model A's particularly handsome, Lincoln-inspired lines and were among the most attractive work vehicles of their era. They were common sights around American towns well into the 1950s and 1960s, proven by their rugged construction, and are still fondly remembered by many who recall them liveried to promote local farms and mechanic's shops.

This particular Closed Cab Pickup, a 1930 model, was acquired by Jim Taylor's father, Willard, himself a great enthusiast and collector, probably in the late 1970s or early 1980s, and is believed to have now been with the family for about forty years. An older restoration now in charming, lightly patinated condition, it is finished with DeLuxe trim and a sidemounted spare, and painted dark green and black with straw wheels and pinstriping. With a wood-lined bed and fold-out windshield, with electric wiper, it has a wonderful period-correct appearance, and at the time of cataloging had recorded 35,721 miles, though it is presently in nonrunning condition.

A jaunty Ford benefitting from very good long-term collector ownership with two generations of Taylors, this is a most satisfying Model A. It would be ideal for use at one's farm property, just as it would have in 1930, or for liverying to promote one's own business or collection; there can be no better 'shop truck' for runs to the parts store.
