E’ la Fiat Panda, l’utilitaria per eccellenza tra le Youngtimer, con un tocco speciale, quello delle quattro ruote motrici.
La “Nuova Fiat Panda 4x4 Edizione Limitata” del 1985 rappresenta il punto di collegamento tra la prima serie prodotta dal 1983 e la “Supernova” presentata di lì a poco: questa versione speciale, prodotta in 5000 esemplari, conservava esternamente le linee squadrate ad opera di Giorgetto Giugiaro, così come negli interni ancora con i sedili ribaltabili “a busta”, la panca posteriore trasformabile in culla ed il grande marsupio a sostenere il minimale cruscotto.

Le differenze riguardano le finiture ad iniziare dai cerchi bianchi che introducono il nuovo disegno usato sul restyling, la colorazione Verde Alpi, i fari supplementari, il tetto rivestito in vinile con portapacchi dedicato ed il portellone posteriore parzialmente verniciato di nero opaco. Una fascia adesiva bianca, nera e rossa lungo il profilo della vettura permette di distinguerla ad un primo sguardo. L’interno dell’edizione limitata invece si caratterizza per le cinture di sicurezza rosse, i pannelli in finta pelle con una riga orizzontale rossa e, a richiesta, il tessuto speciale rosso a pois neri.

L’auto montava il collaudato 4 cilindri, di cilindrata 965 ad aste e bilancieri con 48 cavalli: potenza più che sufficiente per muovere agilmente i meno di 800kg della piccola utilitaria che ancora oggi si muove nel centro cittadino con un’agilità impareggiabile rispetto alle auto odierne.
Lo spot dell’epoca recitava: “La Panda 4x4 inizia a divertire dove gli altri si fermano”. Effettivamente le Pirelli Winter montate su cerchi da 4,5 pollici aggrappano ovunque con una facilità disarmante: pochi ostacoli possono fermare la Panda 4x4.

L’esemplare qui proposto, nel colore dedicato all’Edizione Limitata “Verde Alpi”, ha subito un totale restauro conservativo a partire dagli gli interni in tessuto rossi erano di un materiale non adatto per impiego automobilistico e si erano lacerati (come in quasi tutte le altre vetture analoghe) per cui sono stati rifatti usando un materiale idoneo per l’uso e uguale all’occhio. Dove abbiamo potuto, abbiamo conservato le componenti originali, restaurando le parti più difficili da reperire.
La carrozzeria è stata restaurata, il sottoscocca invece è stato bonificato e trattato con materiali protettivi, ma è tutt’ora originale.
La carrozzeria è stata quasi integralmente riverniciata, il tetto è stato rivestito nuovamente in vinile conforme all’originale e sono state ricostruite le decalcomanie della versione speciale.

Il motore – con circa 83.000km originali – è stato verificato e tagliandato, mentre è stato revisionato il carburatore, e sono state sostituite altre componenti. Il cambio e la scatola guida sono stati aperti e revisionati, così come il differenziale posteriore.

The Fiat Panda, the small car par excellence among the Youngtimers, with a special touch: the four-wheel drive.
The "New Fiat Panda 4x4 Limited Edition" of 1985 represents the point of connection between the first series produced since 1983 and the "Supernova" presented shortly thereafter: this special version “Steyr Puch", produced in 5000 exemplar, externally preserved the squared lines by Giorgetto Giugiaro, as well as in the interiors still with the folding seats "envelope", the rear bench convertible into a cradle and the large pouch to support the minimal dashboard.

The differences concern the finishes such the white rims that introduce the new design used on the restyling, the "Verde Alpi” color, the additional headlights, the vinyl-covered roof with dedicated luggage rack and the tailgate partially painted in matt black. A white, black and red adhesive band along the profile of the car allows you to distinguish it at first glance. The interior of the limited edition is characterized by red seat belts, artificial leather panels with a red horizontal stripe and, on request, the special red fabric with black polka dots.

The car was fitted with the proven 4-cylinder, with a displacement of 965 with rods and rockers with 48 horsepower: more than enough power to move easily the less than 800kg of the small car that still moves in the city center with unparalleled agility compared to today's cars.
The commercial of the time read: "The Panda 4x4 begins to entertain where others stop". Indeed, the Pirelli Winter mounted on 4.5-inch wheels cling everywhere with disarming ease: few obstacles can stop the Panda 4x4.

The specimen proposed here, painted in the limited edition “verde Alpi” , has undergone a total conservative restoration starting from the interiors, the red fabric of the seats was made of a material not suitable for automotive use and had torn (as in almost all other similar Panda) so they were redone using a material suitable for use and equal to the eye. Where we could, we kept the original components, restoring the most difficult parts to find.
The body has been restored, the underbody has been reclaimed and treated with protective materials, but it is still original.
The bodywork has been almost entirely repainted, the roof has been re-covered in vinyl conforming to the original and the decals of the special version have been redone.

The engine – with about 83,000 km – has been checked up and serviced, while the carburetor has been overhauled, and other components have been replaced. The gearbox and steering box have been opened and overhauled, as has the rear differential.

All works are documented by photos and invoices. ASI certified, pending gold plate
