This Bizzarrini 5300 GT Strada was sold new in the United States in 1968 to its first owner. The car subsequently belonged to several collectors, including Max Balchowski, Oliver Kuttner, and then a German collector who brought it back to Europe.
Hervé Ogliastro purchased the car in April 1990 at an auction held by Maître Poulain in Paris (period catalogue available). At the time of purchase, the car showed 12,800 miles and required a complete restoration.
Following the advice of Mr. Lavost—then President of the Bizzarrini France Club—Hervé Ogliastro sent the Bizzarrini to the Diomante workshops in Italy. Salvatore Diomante had managed the Bizzarrini factory during the 1960s. After two years of restoration work in Italy, the finishing work was carried out by André Lecoq’s workshop.
Four years later, in 1997, the car was presented at the Bagatelle Concours d’Élégance, and Automobile-Classique magazine featured it in an outstanding article in issue No. 36.
Purchased in 2017 by the current owner, this 5300 GT Strada now shows 14,280 miles. Considering the documentation in our possession and the car’s known history, it is highly likely that this is the original mileage.
In superb condition thanks to a high-quality restoration and careful maintenance, this car is one of the rare Bizzarrinis fitted with an aluminium body and has not been modified for competition.
Appraised in March 2017 by Jack Koops de Hartog at the request of the current owner, we hold a complete appraisal report confirming the car’s authenticity and historical background.
