The Maserati Sebring (Tipo AM 101/S). With no car is it so decisive whether the first or second series is for you. The Sebring Series 1, as in this case, is an incredibly beautifully styled car. The Series 2 is beautiful but not even half as beautiful as the Series 1. This example was delivered new in 1963 in the United States. The car was ordered as a demonstration vehicle and therefore received the main factory options, namely: the ZF five-speed transmission and disc brakes all around. The car has the rare, but beautiful, “Amaranto Rame Metallizato” and a “Pelle Nero” interior. You can imagine that this example has not been on the showroom floor for long. A month after arrival she was delivered to her first owner, Mr Brown. He owned the car until 1999, after which the car had two more owners in the United States until the previous owner purchased the car in 2015. He decided in 2018 to commission the renowned Maserati specialist Peschl to completely renovate the car. restoration and technical overhaul. The work took until 2020 and was carried out at a very high standard. The invoices totalling almost €100,000 are present with the car.
The body of the car is therefore in absolute top condition. The complete body is without exaggeration at least as beautiful, or even more beautiful than when the car left the factory gates in Modena for the first time. The sheet metal is beautifully thin and fits perfectly everywhere. The paint has been sprayed very well and looks beautiful. The car has not driven many kilometres since restoration and it shows. The car is on the original wheels with new tires around them. Also, things such as the bumpers and lighting have been completely renewed and all look to pass through a ring.
The interior was reupholstered during the restoration with a great sense of originality. The colour scheme is therefore completely original, as are the materials used. The interior, therefore, looks as if the car has just rolled out of the factory. The seats are upholstered in beautiful black leather and of course, refilled during the restoration. The carpets have been completely refitted and are in top condition. The instruments and controls have all been overhauled and look to be passed through a ring. Of course, they function as they should. Items such as the headliner have also been completely renewed, taking into account the way in which the factory carried out the work at the time.
The technology has been completely overhauled. The engine is still the original one with the beloved Lucas fuel injection. It is not only the engine that has been completely overhauled but also the transmission and the differential lock have been completely overhauled. The car has air conditioning and the brakes have also been completely renewed. When we open the engine compartment, the predominant image is that here too, work was done with a great sense of originality and the work carried out at a very high level was carried out by specialists. If we start the 3.5 litre six-in-line and start driving, that feeling is only reinforced. The engine produces 220 hp and sounds fantastic. The transmission from ZF shifts precisely and is equipped with fine gearbox ratios that ensure that you can always drive in the correct speed range.
The documentation of the car is as high as the work carried out. The car is therefore delivered including all invoices of the work performed and a lot of additional information about the history of the car. It is a feast for the eyes to browse through and see the detail in which the restoration of this car has been carried out. In short, are you looking for a top restored, fully overhauled Maserati Sebring Series 1 with demonstrably low mileage and fully known history? Then this is your car.
