The ultimate 80s wallpaper: the Ferrari Testarossa. A childhood dream for many and may be Ferrari’s greatest image builder ever. The nostalgic feelings are complete after noticing the Monospeccio and Monodado features. That means it’s the original. Sorry Miami Vice fans, Ferrari never officially delivered a white Testarossa, but if there’s one color that suits this classic…
History
We got ourselves a nice little reunion with the Italian supercar in the Prins showroom. Indeed, it’s not the first time we’re offering the classic Ferrari for sale. Back in 2014 the Testarossa was part of a Spanish car collection we brought to the Netherlands. Today, the current owner is the same as of our ex-Spanish 328 GTS: both purchased in 2015 by a true Ferrari fan and now for sale again. Since we perfectly maintained the two Italians for the past 6 years, we know the technique is just as fine as the looks.
Exterior
What the Countach is to Lamborghini, the Testarossa is to Ferrari. Although it was done often enough in the past, the two exotics cannot be compared with each other at all. Basically, the Testarossa is a super-fast GT instead of a hardcore supercar. However, the bodywork is extremely low and wide, the aerodynamics are ultra-sharp and the details as characteristic as they could be. The “slats” over the rear light units and “fins” in front of the air intakes on the sides are 100% unique and 100% Testarossa. Typical for the 1st series are the central wheel nuts (Monodado) single exterior mirror at the top of the A-pillar (Monospeccio). This makes our version also the most wanted.
Interior
The two-tone brown leather interior is a welcome extra. Very stylish and very rare as well. Only the 3-spoke leather steering wheel with light contrast stitches is traditionally black. Furthermore, the classic Ferrari has a remarkable straight 80s style. The characteristic H-pattern, with its aluminum gearshift wings, fuel-up the nostalgic feelings when experiencing the one and only Testarossa.
Technique & performance
When you say Ferrari, you say driving experience. The V12 in the back is set up at an angle of 180 degrees. In short, it’s as flat as a pizza. The boxer-like configuration of Ferrari's "Flat 12" has a total capacity of 4.9 liters and is able to send 390 horses towards the rear axle. In addition, the Testarossa has an ideal 40/60 weight distribution. We say ideal, because this allows the red thoroughbred to wag its tail every now and then. The “loose” rear is not hard to imagine after seeing some spectacular scenes from Miami Vice. Also for the performance of the 12-cylinder no imagination is necessary: the sound is so intense that the Ferrari Testarossa already seems at full speed when it’s actually going nowhere. So get ready to put on a real show and step into James “Sonny” Crockett's wild world.
Kind regards,
Prins Classics.
