Description
It was in May 1960 that the Giardiniera version of the Fiat 500 appeared. Its designer, Dante Giacosa then invented a flat rear engine “sogliola” located under the floor. The body was completely redesigned keeping the front part of the 500, up to the door pillars but with a radical transformation of the rear, very square, with the addition of a side opening door. The side windows are rectangular and sliding.
On this model, the roof can be completely open and accommodates a canvas soft top like the sedan. The dimensions of the car have grown: the Giardiniera, with a wheelbase increased to 1,940 mm, is 3.185 m long (21.5 cm longer than the sedan) and 1.354 m high (+ 2 cm). It remains a holiday mini break, enabling you to travel in style with the commodity of 4 seats.
The car was first registered in 1974 and has had only 2 owners since then. It is in good state. It is featured in the beautiful Fiat Azzurro Acquamarina color. Was bought by its Belgian owner in 2016 from a botanist who lived in Rome. It was imported via la Scuderia Fiat Cinquetentissimo (Luca Bonifazi).
