Model History
The 280SL iteration of R107 roadsters was manufactured between 1974 and 1985. It was equipped with a straight six engine of 2743cc of displacement and 185 horsepower sent to the rear wheels via a 4-speed automatic gearbox. It had a great commercial success, and was awarded for its outstanding quality and level of equipment. The R107 range was available with 6 and 8-cylinder engines. In 1973, in answer to the oil crisis, Mercedes got rid of the V8 as the entry level engine and replaced it with a six cylinder, in both SL and SLC – coupe – bodies. It was the well known M110 used in the W114-115 and W116 model ranges. The R107 model range was manufactured for 18 years.
Vehicle History
This Mercedes 280SL offered at the National Stadium Auction is a European Specification R107. Its current owner imported it from Germany a few years ago and until recently it was used regularly for weekend drives. In terms of body, this vehicle has a very nice patina and a couple rust spots. Originally silver, before being imported to Poland, this 280SL benefited from a professional respray at one of Mercedes dealers. Interior is in a good shape, so are the mechanical components. This 280SL is currently registered as a historic vehicle in Poland.
