Re-igniting the debate
On the 21 October 1990, Ayrton Senna lined up alongside his bitter rival Alain Prost on the Suzuka grid for the Japanese Grand Prix, the race that was to decide which of them became World Champion. Famously, Senna’s McLaren MP4/5 B and Prost’s Ferrari 641 controversially clashed on the first corner, rendering both cars unable to continue – and effectively handing the title to Senna.
