Swedish Speedboats for the USA

The J Craft Torpedo was officially launched at the 2009 Monaco Yacht Show, followed a year later by the Torpedo R, which offers a higher spec and more power. So far, buyers have come from the Middle East and the Mediterranean but, in 2011, Swedish luxury powerboat manufacturer J Craft will enter the North American market, starting with a display at the Miami Boat Show in February.

Johan Attvik of J Craft says the company is excited about the potential of the US market: “Early signs suggest that the Torpedo will do well there. We are talking to a number of prominent partners and we’re looking forward to putting together an exciting calendar of events for new customers and friends of the brand in North America. Equally, we expect Europe to remain strong and the Middle East market to grow for us in the next 12 months. J Craft production for 2011 is scheduled to be 16 hulls; however, we may need to try to ramp this up if demand continues to grow at the current rate.”

In the first 24 hours of this year’s four-day Monaco Yacht Show, J Craft had sold a standard Torpedo speedboat and, since then, the company has sold a further three boats: two standard Torpedos and a Torpedo R. The 12.6m Torpedo costs from 750,000 euros.
