Delivered new to the Raffay Porsche distributor in Hamburg on October 21, 1970, this Porsche 911 2.2 S benefits from a well-documented history across Germany, having resided in Stuttgart, Ludwigsburg, and Traunstein, before later moving to Sweden.
Finished in the rare and factory-correct Grünmetallic (code 8383), the car presents beautifully and retains a highly attractive period specification. The interior has been fully restored with black leatherette upholstery and the sought-after Pepita cloth inserts, offering an authentic early 911 atmosphere.
Around ten years ago, the car underwent a comprehensive restoration covering bodywork, interior, and mechanical components, with a strong focus on preserving originality. The 2.2-litre air-cooled flat-six engine and its dog-leg 5-speed gearbox were rebuilt and perform exactly as expected. The car is offered in excellent condition throughout and comes complete with its original jack, tool kit, and Porsche Classic certification. It is further fitted with the iconic forged alloy wheels developed with Otto Fuchs KG, known for their lightweight construction and timeless design.
Produced between 1969 and 1971, the Porsche 911 2.2 S features a larger displacement flat-six with mechanical fuel injection, delivering 180 horsepower, around 20 horsepower above earlier models, and a top speed of 230 km/h, while benefiting from improved balance, stability, and overall driving dynamics.
The 2.2-litre engine is particularly appreciated for its eager, free-revving nature and sharp throttle response, qualities that are even more pronounced in the S version, resulting in a highly responsive and engaging driving experience compared to later, more torque-oriented evolutions.
More than just a road car, the 911 quickly established itself as a formidable competition machine. Equally at home on fast circuits as on demanding rally stages, it proved its versatility across a wide range of conditions, earning a reputation for performance, durability, and everyday usability. This 911 2.2 S represents an excellent opportunity to acquire a highly collectible and increasingly sought-after model of one of Porsche’s most significant early cars.
