Aston Martin V12 Vantage Roadster Pentland Green
Aston Martin and the V12 is about as perfect a marriage as it gets. Or rather: a dream marriage. Which is exactly why it’s so painful that the twelve-cylinder engine is now an endangered species. All the greater was the surprise when the British announced that the new AM Vantage—albeit in limited numbers—would once again be fitted with this magical powerplant. Of the Roadster version, Aston Martin built just 249 examples. This is number 211, and quite possibly the most magnificent of them all!
And not just because it was born in our showroom. Together with the first owner, we arrived at a configuration that truly has no equal, complete with a unique Q “out of range” paint finish and countless other options that pushed the factory price up by no less than €140,000 above the standard list price. But what you get in return is something genuinely special: carbon sport seats, carbon interior pack, Jewellery Pack, 21-inch wheels, Alcantara upholstery, premium audio, and an Aston Martin Q cockpit finish turn this 700 hp (!) beauty into an insanely exclusive beast. With just 1,182 km on the clock, it is indistinguishable from new!
Exterior
You can dress a gentleman in the most extravagant suit imaginable, but he remains a gentleman. That said, this extremely muscular Vantage Roadster is practically bursting out of its tailored outfit thanks to the abundance of carbon features: front splitter, side skirts, air guides, exterior mirrors, diffuser, and of course the gigantic rear wing—this style icon is ready for the racetrack!
The stunning 21-inch Y-spoke design wheels are massive in size, and the Michelin rubber wrapped around them is extremely wide. In short, everything points to this British beauty clinging to the asphalt with maximum force. Thanks to the minimalist spoke design, the bronze brake calipers are delightfully “in your face.” And that’s saying something, considering how visually spoiled we already were by the Aston Martin Vantage’s gorgeous bodywork.
Finished in the ultra-exclusive Pentland Green from the Q “out of range” colour palette, the unmatched beauty of the V12 Roadster truly comes into its own. The excitement is completed by the addition of the Bitter Chocolate soft top by Q—the cherry on top.
Interior
Fortunately for future occupants, the cockpit view is just as impressive. From the carbon sport seats—which perfectly cradle your body (and rightly so)—you’re treated to a two-tone dashboard finished in Obsidian Black and Oxford Tan leather. A wonderfully tasteful combination that is mirrored in the lightweight bucket seats, with the key difference being that the seat centres—like the door panels—are trimmed in Alcantara. Absolutely stunning.
The rear deck and centre armrest are also finished in Oxford Tan Alcantara, while the headliner and steering wheel are dressed in Obsidian Black. The upper and lower sections of the sports steering wheel feature the same carbon inserts found throughout the instrument cluster, air vents and centre/tunnel console, as part of the carbon interior package.
Speaking of packages: the Dark Chrome Jewellery Pack provides the ultimate finishing touch inside the Aston Martin V12 Vantage Roadster. Or could it be the Pinewood Green stitching stealing the show?
Options & Extras
For the interior extras by Q alone, the original owner paid an impressive €18,000. The Pentland Green out-of-range paintwork carried a price tag of around €13,000. And the remaining €109,000 in options? Spent largely on an extraordinary amount of carbon fibre. Every angle of the V12 Vantage Roadster features a carbon accent.
Except for the roof—no weight could be saved there, as it’s absent most of the time anyway. At least, if it’s up to sun lovers. And those who prefer music other than what’s produced by the glorious V12 will be more than satisfied with the premium audio system on board…
Technology & Performance
Aston Martin is often told it should move with the times. The danger, of course, is downsizing. The British engineers did reduce displacement compared to the previous V12 Vantage—from 6.0 to 5.2 litres. Matching the output of 573 hp (non-S) and 517 hp (S) versions would already be a challenge.
But moving with the times meant more than that, so the engineers added twin turbochargers to the magical 12-cylinder orchestra. The result? An asphalt-wrinkling 700 hp and 753 Nm of torque… insane! The Roadster sprints from 0–100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds, while the top speed is capped at a staggering 322 km/h.
Which brings us to one final conclusion: this royally specified, “out of range” AM V12 is truly out of this world. Who wants to experience it up close?
Kind regards,
Team Prins
