Description

The forerunner of the Transalp and the Africa Twin the XLV750R was introduced in 1983. With a 749cc air/oil cooled 45° V Twin, SOHC and three valves per its twin plug cylinder heads it had plenty of ‘go’ only its comparatively heavy weight stopped it being a major off road contender, however as Honda’s flagship ‘Duel Sport’ on/off road tourer it was more than capable. Production ended in 1986 with only about 10,000 units being built of the more powerful ‘D’ derivative and the slightly more refined ‘F’ models.
Apart from the Japanese home market the limited production meant it wasn’t destined for all of Europe, Italy and France being the main markets with no bikes being sent to the UK or Germany, the remaining entering Australia and the USA. So a rare bike to be seen on the streets of Britain these days.
This example built 26th Jan. 1984 with its Km clock showing 32,000 Kms (19,800 miles) was probably imported from Europe and was registered in the UK in 1995. Supplied with the owners handbook and UK V5C logbook it has just had a full service, new battery and tyres and is in generally good original unrestored condition. Mechanically the bike runs great, and has lots of instant power delivered smoothly through the shaft drive.
This is rare an unusual bike and definitely very eye catching, perfect for continental touring trips that can take in a few trails along the way.
